UN day celebration at Kabul University

24 October marks the signing of the United Nations Charter in 1945 which declared: ”We the peoples of the United Nations…United for a Better World.”

Afghanistan joined the United Nations in 1946 and the UN has had a presence in the country for more than 50 years. There are 192 member states of the United Nations.

In this year’s campaign ”The United Nations works for you” focuses on 14 core UN activities - all of which the UN is engaged within Afghanistan – such as disarmament, peace and security, human rights, health, education, food security, poverty eradication and others.

 

UNDP National Goodwill Ambassador Farhad Darya participated in UN Day ceremony at Kabul University on 23 Oct 2008.

 

 

Also Kabul University students visited UNDP stall and received UNDP advocacy materials and publications.
